How can we help blind people to find a better solution for their problema and cheaper?

Our project is about a walking stick for the blind people that has a sensor to tell them if he is near some object like: the floor, sidewalk, near people or any object that is on their way.
How did you come up with this idea?
We were looking for ideas for our Project, we tought about something that could help the blind people and we came up with this idea.
What would be the best way to find an answer to your research question?
Our teachers told us that we needed to search GlobalLab to see if we could find answers and if we wanted to change our idea.
