Dear researchers participating in the project, I want to focus your attention on the fact that in this project you can not just lay out the saying, you can remember, but spend a week-long experiment, watching the spoken language around you. All sayings, expressed in their speech and in your speech during this time you should be fixed (and this bother advance to get a notebook and pen, which will always be with you for the duration of the experiment). The results of the experiment should be fully reflected in the survey project. So you fill out as many profiles, managed to collect sayings. Under the heading "Discussion" I beg you to share with us the result of the study, namely to put the diagnosis saying - if she's alive, do you think today in our speech? In this case you define "health condition" as saying the genre, and not each individual sayings.
So, by May in our project is 70 completed questionnaires!
However, an unambiguous diagnosis saying we can not yet set:
data profiles show that "our patient" is more alive than dead.
But there are several important "but":
1. Most common sayings is used by adults, not children, not even students.
2. Quite new sayings obtained detect extremely small, it turns genre "froze" - the texts are reproduced, but not born. And for the life of every genre, like every living being, it is important to the emergence of new "species" - in this case, new sayings.
What - research continues. And who knows what discoveries are still ahead of us to make!
This catch phrase has come to us from Greece. It was introduced into circulation writer Lucian in his satirical work "Praise the fly." Yet Lucian was not the true author of expression. Lucian only used already existing proverb authorship of which still remains a mystery.
When someone exaggerates, turning insignificant fact in a big event, the French remarked ironically: "He makes a mountain out of a vacuum." The British then utter a more specific version of the saying: "He makes a mountain out of mole heaps."
Draw saying - is not easy, requires intellectual effort and sometimes a sense of humor. An illustration we have drawn for you by yourself and make a picture of the project. Now offering to watch and evaluate several figures found. What are, in your opinion, the most original? Which one do you like better?
Now on the Internet you can find many pages of sites where collected and laid out modern proverbs. Some of them give below. I am interested in your opinion: why do these lists always make up the vast majority of it is a proverb? What exactly sayings are not born in the modern world? And the second question: is it possible to call these expressions proverbs and sayings, or is it just witty expressions that do not have a large spread is not transmitted by word of mouth? And I want to turn to you with a request: if you can not continue this list?
Now the project 9 completed questionnaires. However, not all of the point to the saying. Most profiles confused object of study: refer proverb, not saying. Let's deal with the light of the rules that I gave in the previous blog post. 1) Do not do to others what you do not want them to do unto you. - This phrase is a whole sentence, expresses complete the soap, you can not replace the word / phrase. So it was not a saying! 2) make a deal - walk safely! - The phrase may be a whole sentence expresses a complete thought, a word or phrase can not be replaced. Again not a saying! 3) Fear has big eyes. - A phrase = proposal concludes a complete thought, a word / phrase is not replaced. NOT sayings! 4) I want to - I can half. - A phrase = proposal concludes a complete thought, not to replace the word / phrase. NOT sayings! 5) TO KNOW YAT - no complete thought, it is not clear: what to know yat? - It is not a separate proposal! - You can replace the phrase "fully aware" Finally, the first sayings !!! 6) choose not harmful. 7) All the herbs - myatelki, all the birds - finches, all students - Botany. 8) of the mind, like two flies, sorry that does not fly. 9) No labor not catch fish from the pond. - Expressions 6) 7) 8) 9) - make whole sentences express a complete thought, not replace individual word / phrase. THIS IS NOT SAYINGS! Conclusion: To date, we have found only one living saying: "TO KNOW YAT"! The rest of the questionnaire will be deleted. Do not give up, keep searching!
The object of our study is just a saying and not saying! Very often they are confused. Explain that you need to know to distinguish from the proverbial sayings. It is important to remember the three main differences: 1) The saying - is embedded in a separate proposal. It can not in itself constitute an offer. 2) The proverb expresses a complete thought. It - only shaped turnover, decoration ideas, but not all of the content of thought. 3) Saying you can replace the word or phrase with the same meaning.
