At the turn of 18-19 centuries German romantic literature greatly influenced the development of musical art that led to the emergence of music filled with new imagery, intonation and lexical and genre specificity.

Of great interest is opera ETA Hoffmann "Ondine"

Even more emotional and lyrical opera Undine gives associative correlation with the heroine of the German romantic ballads - Lorelei. If the story after escaping during a storm Ondine is surrounded by water on the island, the opera is a cliff.
