Tale F. de la Motte Fouque "Ondine" and her operatic incarnation ETA Hoffmann. (WV Matasova, PhD. Philology Nizhny Novgorod State University. Lobachevsky).
At the turn of 18-19 centuries German romantic literature greatly influenced the development of musical art that led to the emergence of music filled with new imagery, intonation and lexical and genre specificity.
Of great interest is opera ETA Hoffmann "Ondine"
(1815), recycled from the prose work by the author -
F. de la Motte Fouque.
Opera - the art, the content of which is embodied in the musical and poetic images, it has an inherent emotional expressiveness to transfer the excess of emotion. Transformation of "Ondine" in the opera, a poetic text put emotional contrast to the fore.
If the story existed Fouquet opposition of the human soul, which Ondine received through love and marriage with the knight, and callousness of a natural disaster, the opera takes place leading a confrontation between two brightly colored emotional passions of love and hate. Reflections of the soul go by the wayside and only appear as a necessary element of the plot.
If the story knight and Undine hurry to leave the fishing hut, because the heroine of acquiring the human soul, afraid of even greater attachment parenting, the opera, they rush to the road to get married on the mainland in the church.
Knight commits acts under the influence of surging emotions: he refuses to love Bertalde, barely seeing the Undine; rejects the past after the death of Ondine and again given love Bertalde. In the story, a knight - reflecting hero: spontaneous acts he is not so inherent; feeling love for him, but not blind passion. After the death of a dream he Undine sent girl. Pastor makes him think he is in town specifically to stop the wedding - it was a sign. In the opera, Knight considers past obsession, and the pastor there passing on his way to Rome.
Love in the opera confronts hatred and revenge, embodied in the image of Kyuleborna who openly declares that he is an enemy knight and Undine; he was against the relationship of lovers, because he knows deceitful human race. Please Kyuleborn going to avenge that Knight took Undine, and then for the fact that he had deceived her. In the story he too crafty, but the theme of hatred is not so pronounced: Ondine makes the final terms of Kyuleborna not revenge and retribution.
Even more emotional and lyrical opera Undine gives associative correlation with the heroine of the German romantic ballads - Lorelei. If the story after escaping during a storm Ondine is surrounded by water on the island, the opera is a cliff.
Creating the libretto, Fouquet tried to translate the image inherent in Ondine lyricism. All that he could not express in words, completed the music Hoffmann. Most skillfully able to realize the potential of the lyrical story Fouquet VA Zhukovsky poetic translation.
