Local Olympics
The Greek Olympics are not unique. Different nations have their own traditional sports competitions. Are there regular folk games in your area? Share information about them with everyone.
People learn about the modern Olympic games at an early age from TV. Later, at school, we learn about the Olympiads of ancient Greece. And recently, reading a text in an English lesson, we learned about a sporting event in Scotland called Highland games. Questions rose: Is the Greek Olympiad not unique? What if every nation has its own kind of Olympics? Do these competitions have anything in common? To learn more about traditional sports competitions, we created this project. If there are original competitions where you live, in which participants measure their strength, speed, agility with each other, tell the world about them-join our project.
