Investigation Protocol
- Select one of the scenarios below and create a bit of your own news that you can use in this experiment. Formulate your news in a way that matches your personality and circumstances. Share this made-up news with the aim of receiving an emotional reaction from the listener. News options:
a) Bad (or unexpected) school grades.
b) The rescue of a stray or missing animal (ie. a puppy, a kitten, etc.).
c) The opening of an amazing new place nearby (ie. a scary attraction, an extraordinary museum, etc.)
d) A bit of absurd information (ie. bananas are unhealthy for women, a Mars rover discovers a spaceship, etc.)
e) An unfortunate mishap (ie. someone breaking a vase or a computer, someone hitting a fire hydrant while riding their bike, etc.).
f) A sudden or unexpected departure (ie. travel abroad, study exchange in an exotic place, etc.).
g) Winning a lottery prize or a big competition of some sort.
h) Falling in love unexpectedly. - Tell your news to an acquaintance or relative. Pay close attention to his/her reply (write it down!).
Note: If the reply contains vulgar or abusive language you will have to repeat the experiment with someone else. It is prohibited to use inappropriate language on GlobalLab’s website. - Fill in the Report Form. You can fill in a different Report Form for each time you share your news and receive a response.

Treat your family and friends with kindness and consideration. Do not, for the purpose of this project, tell them dramatic or horrifying news simply to see their reaction.
